What OrderBlock is, how the rankings are produced, where the data comes from and where our interests lie, stated plainly.

Nature of the service

OrderBlock is subscription software. The fee you pay is for access to the terminal, journal, learning content and community. Every subscriber sees the same rankings at the same time. We do not provide personalised recommendations, portfolio management, trade execution or custody of funds or securities, and we never ask for access to your trading account.

Regulatory status

OrderBlock is not registered with SEBI as an investment adviser, research analyst, portfolio manager, stock broker or authorised person of a stock broker, and does not act as one. If this ever changes, we will update this page before offering any regulated service.

How the rankings are produced

Each stock's strength score is calculated as:

strength = today's one-directional move from the open ÷ the stock's average daily move

  • The average daily move is based on completed sessions over roughly the last 50 calendar days and is fixed for the day shortly after the open.
  • A move counts only when it is clearly one-sided: the distance travelled on one side of the open must be more than twice the distance on the other side. Otherwise the score is zero.
  • Scores are recalculated every minute from one-minute prices during market hours. Stocks rising cleanly rank on the Bullish board; stocks falling cleanly rank on the Bearish board.

The same formula applies to every stock for every user. No stock is added, promoted or hidden for commercial reasons. Our team may correct data for corporate actions, bad ticks or feed errors; such corrections apply to all users equally.

Data sources and trademarks

Prices are exchange market data received through licensed data vendors and broker interfaces. OrderBlock is not affiliated with, endorsed or sponsored by any stock exchange or by SEBI. NIFTY, NIFTY BANK, NIFTY FINANCIAL SERVICES, INDIA VIX and all other index and company names are trademarks of their respective owners.

Conflicts of interest

  • Members of our team may trade in their personal capacity, including in stocks that appear on the board. Because rankings are generated mechanically, no team member can place a stock on the board.
  • We do not receive any payment or benefit from listed companies, their promoters or associates for any stock's appearance on the board or in our content.
  • We do not currently receive referral fees from brokers. If we enter such an arrangement, we will disclose it here.

Testimonials and examples

Testimonials describe individual members' experience of using the software. They may be shortened for length but are not rewritten, and we do not publish testimonials that claim specific trading profits. Worked examples in our content are illustrative and often hypothetical.
